An incredible weekend awaits with your sons at Clear Creek Abbey. https://clearcreekmonks.org/
This will be primitive camping (no water, no electricity & no toilets) & we are camping in an open field that’s about a 15-minute walk to the Abbey
The Troop will be bringing a latrine setup (portable toilet & tent)
Required items to bring:
At least 2 gallons of water per person, per day
A printed map w/ directions- your phones won’t work out there. (Link to Print)
Suggested items:
Donation for the Abbey
Lantern, it’s a remote area so it can get quite dark
Shelter + tables, it’s a large field so having shade and tables will be helpful
Shovel, we will have to create our own fire ring with rocks & dispose of waste
Chainsaw and/or axes: we will need to cut our own firewood
Activities: Football, frisbee, wiffleball, baseball, archery items, etc.
The creek was not a good place to fish. I wouldn't recommend bringing any fishing gear.
Cold weather clothing: it will be chilly in the mornings/evenings
Click here to see a recommended list of other items to bring. If this is your first time camping or you’re unsure of what to bring, please contact anyone on the leadership team. At least bring the basics (tent, sleeping bag, water & mess kit) and then learn from others what you may want to eventually invest in.
